When the site manager becomes a trainer<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\t

The 2019\/2020 handball season kicks off this weekend – and SHA is a proud sponsor of the handball association league team OSC Dortmund! We’ve already told you at one point or another that we’re pretty sporty on the road. It was mostly about our expertise in sports facility construction<\/a>, especially in soccer (BVB, Leipzig, St. Pauli…), or about our company sports, i.e. running<\/a> or general fitness. How does SHA get into handball?<\/p>\n

There is a very special reason for this: our colleague and site manager Thorsten Stoschek forms the coaching team there on an equal footing with secondary school teacher Anne Ewert. And not for the first time: from July 2009 to May 2017, he was the senior coach at OSC Dortmund. At that time, the team was promoted from the association league to the top division. Prior to that, he was active as a youth coach in the performance area on the sidelines for more than six years from 2003 to 2009 (C, B and A youth teams at OSC Dortmund).<\/p>\n

In 2017, he ended his work at the OSC for the time being – “I then concentrated on SHA,” says Thorsten.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

In our office, he is responsible for the implementation of construction projects<\/a> throughout Germany, in particular the renovation, expansion and new construction of commercial properties with various office, sales and exhibition spaces, including warehouse logistics.<\/p>\n

But despite all the passion for the profession, the handball fever has not subsided. “When the OSC asked if I could take over again, I couldn’t say ‘no’,” says Thorsten with a laugh.<\/p>\n

This requires good time management. After all, he is very busy as a site manager at SHA. “Planning is everything, whether in your professional or private life,” says Thorsten. And so, week after week, after his various meetings with clients, he gets into his car, plane or train to reliably reach the OSC training facility. He can score points there with his great expertise: Thorsten also has a ten-year professional career as a handball player himself – he played for Dortmund from 1984 to 1987 and for TuSEM Essen in the German handball league from 1987 to 1994.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

His goal as coach for this season: to play a good role in the league with the young team. The squad is largely made up of young Dortmund talents who played in the A youth team last season. They have all remained loyal to the OSC despite other offers and now want to make it through their first year as seniors. “That will be a challenge,” says Thorsten.<\/p>\n

SHA supports the OSC financially, which directly benefits the squad, and with advertisements in the hall and in the matchday brochure. Of course, we will also be coming to the Hacheney sports hall more often to cheer them on!<\/p>\n
