Published: Roofs of Ulm station square presented in architecture magazine<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\t

SHA featured in trade magazine for landscape architecture and urban planning<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n

We are delighted that our project “Bahnhofplatz Ulm – Dach vor dem Bahnhof und Haltestellend\u00e4cher” is featured in the latest issue 11\/23 of the trade magazine Garten + Landschaft. In collaboration with Hummert Architekten BDA, we completed the project in 2021.<\/p>\n

With a floor area of approx. 770 m\u00b2, the new station canopy ensures a rain-protected transition between the individual traffic functions and at the same time fulfills a foyer function for the station and the station square. Four round columns support the filigree, geometric roof surface, which is cantilevered on all sides and consists of 16 folded sections on the top and bottom. Two further elongated canopies span the bus stop areas on the station forecourt. They are similar in design to the large roof in front of the station, but consist of six or seven square umbrellas arranged in a row.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div>

The soffits consist of triangular stainless steel panels that are laid directly against each other and mounted without visible fasteners. The necessary traffic lighting was also integrated flush into the soffit. Gutters at the edge of the roof surfaces and downpipes inside the supports ensure drainage.<\/p>\n

You step under a wide-spanning roof, supported by four slender, high pillars. The underside of the roof appears to be in motion: it is composed of triangular panels, the surface appears to be folded in different directions, light reflections from passing cars are reflected mattly in the surface. The color of the roof varies from black to grey to gold.<\/p>\n
