PhoenixWERK supports "Orange Your City"
Setting an example against violence against women
Beacon against violence against women: On November 25, the PhoenixWERK shone in a rich shade of orange. SHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten GmbH and REMIRA supply chain solutions joined the “Orange Your City” campaign in Dortmund to draw attention to the high number of violent crimes against women.
With the worldwide “Orange the World” campaign, Zonta International has once again called for a visible sign against violence against women and girls. Striking buildings and squares were illuminated in matching orange, including the City Hall in New York City, the buildings of the European Central Bank in Frankfurt and the European Commission in Brussels. More than 60 companies and institutions also took part in the campaign in Dortmund: the police headquarters, the Florianturm, the Konzerthaus and many more. The entire city shone in a bright orange under the local motto “Orange your City”.
SHA Scheffler Helbich Architekten GmbH and REMIRA were also part of the campaign in a joint effort. The PhoenixWERK office building was brightly illuminated by the symbolic color with around forty spotlights from late afternoon until 10 pm. Christoph Helbich, Managing Director of SHA: “It is important to look, to help and to actively set an example against physical and psychological violence against women.
Together with REMIRA, we have made the entire PhoenixWERK shine in a rich orange this year to support Zonta International’s global campaign in Dortmund as well.”
Stefan Braatz, CFO at REMIRA supply chain solutions, is also pleased to support the campaign: “By illuminating the PhoenixWERK in the symbolic color, we want to encourage affected women not to surrender to their fate, but to report crimes and seek help. The number of violent crimes continues to be alarmingly high – with this campaign, we want to help raise public awareness of the issue.”
The background to “Orange your City”
The Zonta Club in Dortmund – under the patronage of Lord Mayor Thomas Westphal – is participating in the worldwide campaign of Zonta International on a voluntary basis together with over 130 other Zonta Clubs throughout Germany. This year, the global network of committed professional women is once again supporting the joint efforts of the United Nations to end violence against women and girls under the premise of “Women helping women”.
