Parking garage of the Westphalia-Lippe Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians
Natural appearance in the inner-city environment
Inner-city parking space shortage reduced
Spread over 3,900 m² of floor space and four and a half floors, the newly built parking garage in Dortmund offers 167 parking spaces. The shortage of parking spaces in the surrounding streets will be alleviated, as KVWL employees will no longer need public parking spaces in future and these will therefore be available to local residents.
Greenery completes the façade appearance
Behind the diagonally running wooden planks, plantings have been selected according to the intensity of the sun on the various façade orientations. The plants can grow up the façades along the attached climbing aids and thus constantly change the façade appearance.
Promoting sustainable inner-city mobility
In addition to 17 barrier-free parking spaces, the new building also has ten parking spaces for charging electric vehicles. The electricity required is provided by a photovoltaic system on the roof so that the parked vehicles can be charged with locally produced green electricity. In addition, the roof area of the parking garage is covered with a green roof.
A high degree of prefabrication of the components used ensured a fast construction time of just one year, and the use of wood as a façade material also means that a total of 78 tons of CO2 are bound. A rainwater cistern ensures that the plants are watered, so that the planting also forms a striking part of the external appearance of the parking garage in the long term.
