The topping-out wreath hangs: Bauhaus Fachcentrum in Düsseldorf-Rath

To mark the topping-out ceremony, we were on site at the Bauhaus Fachcentrum in Düsseldorf-Rath on Tuesday, October 10, to celebrate together with representatives from politics, business, the construction industry and the building owners.

In Düsseldorf, work on the 18,000m² retail center and drive-in arena is in full swing. The fourth location in Düsseldorf is being built on the 42,500m² site. The newly constructed roof area of over 14,000m² will be used sustainably in two ways in future. On the one hand, the greening of the flat roof protects against climatic environmental influences such as strong solar radiation, which leads to strong heating inside the building, and on the other hand it provides an ecologically valuable habitat for animals and plants and thus promotes biodiversity in urban areas.

Thanks to a special construction system, it is possible to use a comprehensive photovoltaic system on the roof of the specialist center in addition to the green roof. Ideally, the photovoltaic system will have a peak output of 650 KWp and will generate an average of 650,000 kWh of electricity per year. The system thus covers around a third of the electricity requirements of the new specialist center. Another plus point: surplus electricity can be fed into the public grid. In addition, the new specialist center has several heat pump systems that can not only heat the building in winter, but also cool it in summer. This means that there is no need for an external gas connection at all.

The more than 18,000m² total area will also be fully equipped with energy-saving LED lamps. Extra-wide daylight zones, e-charging stations for electric vehicles in the parking lot and 75 additional trees planted are further examples of how the future specialist center will meet high ecological standards for efficient construction and sustainable operation.

The opening of the new Bauhaus Fachcentrum, including the drive-in arena, is expected to take place in spring 2024.
