Hansa Theater in Dortmund Hörde
Reconstruction after fire
Following a fire that started in the kitchen of the Hansa Theater Dortmund, large parts of the main auditorium were destroyed in May 2018. Playing in the popular cultural venue in the Hörde district was no longer an option. While the Strothmüller family, who ran the theater, found replacement premises in Dortmund-Hombruch, SHA set to work on Eckardtstraße, planning and supervising the reconstruction of the theater. This was done in close cooperation with interior designer Ulrike Pappert, who developed the interior design, Ubbo de Boer, the chairman of the Werk- und Begegnungszentrum Hörde e.V., and in coordination with the city.
After completion of all construction work, the new season was able to start in the fall of 2019 at the familiar location.
Incidentally, the curtain went up on the Hansa Theater in Hörde for the first time in 2007. The small theater scores with a lot of atmosphere, countless great in-house productions and a wide variety of guest appearances.
