Intelligent route logistics, a clearly structured delivery, storage, picking and dispatch system: in times when the flow of goods is multiplying and delivery and production times are becoming ever shorter, good building logistics are essential. After all, customers want to have their product in their hands the next day after the ordering process – if not same-day delivery. This applies in particular to end consumers, but also to B2B customers. Good planning is therefore the be-all and end-all for a smooth process within a central warehouse. The new JOKA flooring headquarters in Kassel was built according to this premise.
Jordan offers its medium-sized specialist customers two million square meters of floor coverings and a 24-hour delivery service. Every order received by 4 p.m. is delivered the following working day from the distribution point in Kassel to one of over 70 branches in Germany, Austria, Poland, Italy and Switzerland.
In Kassel, in addition to the central warehouse with three interconnected warehouses covering almost 20,000 m², a branch office with 2,600 m² of usable and exhibition space for offices, conference and seminar rooms has also been built.
The building offers sufficient space for order picking and carpet cutting systems, storage of the entire flooring range, an extensive sample exhibition and modern administrative offices.
The entire planning and realization, including the amendment of the development plan, took less than 24 months. The central warehouse is located in the Niederzwehren industrial estate, which has excellent connections to the surrounding highway network.
