New building - Thyssengas GmbH operating center in Recklinghausen
New location for sustainable energy supply in the region
In Recklinghausen, a new Thyssengas GmbH operating site is being built on Sibylla-Merian-Straße, where around 50 employees will be responsible for a planned hydrogen network in the region.
Two construction methods combined
The new Thyssengas GmbH operations center is designed as two independent buildings. A two-storey block serves as an administration building and offers sufficient garage space on the first floor for parking company vehicles. The administration building is complemented by a two-storey warehouse building with enough space for workshops and storage.
A mixed construction method will be used at the new Thyssengas GmbH site. The first floor is supported by a solid reinforced concrete structure, while the upper floor of the administration building has a lightweight timber frame construction. By changing the façade material, the two-part construction method is also emphasized on the outside by cladding the first floor with clinker bricks and the upper floor with larch wood cladding.
A depot with employee parking spaces and a pipe store as well as spacious green areas complete the 7,500 m² site of the Thyssengas GmbH administrative location in Recklinghausen.
DGNB Gold certification for a climate-neutral energy supply
Ensuring a climate-neutral energy supply in the Ruhr region must of course also be reconciled with sustainable and resource-saving architecture for the administration building.
The installation of the timber frame construction on the upper floor of the administration building saves a great deal of resources, significantly reducing the use of reinforced concrete. The air conditioning of the operating site is ensured by an ice storage tank embedded in the ground, which can be used to heat the interior rooms in winter and cool them in summer without emissions. In addition to a comprehensive photovoltaic system on the roof, a green roof and façade will also be installed.
The installation of a trench ensures that rainwater runoff is delayed and the water is diverted into a nearby trough. A cistern ensures the irrigation of the façade greenery and the surrounding green areas. In this respect, a large number of sustainable planning aspects are being considered and implemented in the construction of the new office, so that the building can be awarded DGNB Gold certification upon completion.
