With the new training building for the professional division, the training conditions for all teams can be further optimized. In addition to the excellent conditions in the new building for the professionals, the relocation of the professionals will also provide additional space for the youth teams and amateurs in the existing training building.
In total, the approx. 1,000 m² of usable space on the two floors is divided into sports and recreation areas. On the first floor, the players’ changing rooms, the massage and medical areas as well as the sauna and relaxation zones are combined into a self-contained functional unit. These are flanked by the serving functions of the Zeugwarter. Also on the ground floor are the trainers’ changing rooms and the two-storey weight and fitness room with a separate evaluation room.
On the upper floor, the centerpiece is the communal lounge with chill-out and dining areas, surrounded by an e-learning zone for the players and offices for coaches, support staff and physiotherapists. There are also relaxation rooms, the auditorium and a large roof terrace on this level.
Overall, the new professional center is designed so that players can spend the day in the professional center beyond training. All the main common areas, such as the relaxation and massage rooms on the first floor and the lounge and roof terrace on the upper floor, are oriented towards the training area.
This means that even players who do not actively take part in training have a spatial and visual connection to training and the rest of the team.
The team concept also plays an important role in the lounge’s furnishings: the players sit together at long tables and benches, play pool and table soccer together. Or they can play on the Play Station in the chill area.
However, everyone who enters the building learns that team spirit has a special value in this building anyway:
“Unconditional commitment. Passionate obsession. Determination regardless of the course of the game.”
These are just three of the seven points that Jürgen Klopp once had the team write on a flipchart. All players had to sign the paper and thus promise that they would put their quality at the service of the team 100 percent. These seven points are now emblazoned on the yellow wall in the entrance area of the professionals’ new training center – right next to the BVB 09 logo and the lettering “Echte Liebe”.
