FC St. Pauli has continued the reconstruction of the Millerntor Stadium with the construction of the new main stand. In addition to the south stand, which was completed in 2009, VIP areas for over 2,500 people, a press center, the stadium control center, fan store, kiosks and a kindergarten have been built.
By optimizing the escape route system in the stands, it was possible to save three rows with the same number of spectators and thus significantly increase the marketable area of the boxes and the business club. The space gained has a lasting effect. There are now 28 instead of 18 separees, which means significant additional income for the club each season. In addition to the planning services for the reconstruction of the west stand, SHA also provided planning coordination for the general contractor in the sense of a holistic architectural concept.
And the club now also has more room for maneuver and creativity in the belly of the main stand.
On the first level, which houses the promenade and sales stands, on the second floor, which gives business customers access to the new ballroom, and also on the top floor, where rooms have been created for stadium technology and media representatives, including a press conference room.
A special highlight: when we were confronted with the requirement for increased noise protection in the south-west corner of the stadium in relation to the surrounding residential buildings, we suggested building a day-care center between the stands instead of elaborate noise protection. In this way, the association is fulfilling its role as a caretaker in the neighborhood in the same way that the southern corner component is fulfilling the required noise protection. During the week, 75 children play in the ‘Piratennest’, while another 100 seats have been created below the daycare center.
