The big picture

The Hagebaumarkt Iserlohn is now more than the sum of its parts. This is because the conversion, expansion and restructuring ultimately resulted in an integrated sales outlet for the end consumer. The new look was created during ongoing operations on an already densely built-up site. The right challenge for SHA as site manager and “caretaker”. This is because, on the one hand, tailor-made and individual solutions for redensification were required, and on the other, tried-and-tested modular elements and the decades of industry-specific know-how of our architectural office in the realization of buildings for the building materials trade.

The company has acquired an adjacent plot of land in order to be able to expand the DIY store. Specifically, three key measures have been implemented in Iserlohn:

– the expansion of the garden center with its own entrance and goods issue area as well as a covered outdoor storage area with greenhouse,
– a new hall for the building materials sector and
– The newly designed, inviting main entrance with integrated bakery is the address of the store as a whole.

This – and the consistently implemented corporate identity – has created a coherent whole that now offers customers significantly more orientation. The available space and logistical processes have been optimized. The building complex has been extended to every last corner of the site. After the conversion, the total built-up area will be around 13,000 m².

All construction work was completed in September 2019.
