New construction of the Leipzig office
Timber construction miracle - the game changer in the construction industry
Contemporary architecture is facing considerable challenges in the face of dwindling resources. In this context, timber construction has gained a remarkable market share as a sustainable and resource-saving construction method. This success story is based on conviction and courage.
New look for soccer in Leipzig
During the planning and implementation of the new building, there was a strong focus on environmentally friendly and sustainable construction. The supporting structure and the interior fittings are mainly made of wood.
Solar modules are installed on the façade and roof to generate energy. These measures contribute significantly to the reduction of CO2 emissions and promote the urban microclimate through green roofs and the creation of a public climate forest. A total of 2,250 m³ of timber elements were manufactured. Thanks to the high degree of prefabrication, assembly was completed in just ten weeks.
After its planned completion at the end of 2025, the building will offer workplaces for 250 employees on an area of 14,500 m² spread over four floors.
Wood of the future
Of course, wood is not a savior that can be trusted blindly. Numerous architects have now, understandably, turned their backs on timber construction. Nevertheless – and there is no doubt about it – wood is a fantastic building material that will carry the building revolution, provided it is used correctly.
