New construction of the west stand at St. Pauli

When we took on the contract for the west stand of the Millerntor stadium in St. Pauli, the design of the stand already seemed to be a foregone conclusion. However, we saw so much potential for optimization that we convinced the association to revise the plans.

It quickly became clear that we could generate significantly better sightlines and ten additional VIP boxes for the client with the same number of spectator seats. As a result, the club benefits from significant additional income from box marketing.

In order to achieve this, we have exhausted all the possibilities of fire protection, optimized the accessibility, reduced the number of rows of seats and thus found an optimal ratio of accessibility and density. The grandstand is now much steeper. The spectator has a better view due to the height difference to the vehicle in front.

When we were confronted with the demand for increased noise protection in the southwest corner of the stadium in relation to the surrounding residential buildings, we suggested building a children’s daycare center between the stands instead of elaborate noise protection. In this way, the association is fulfilling its role as a caretaker in the neighborhood in the same way that the southern corner component is fulfilling the required noise protection. During the week, 75 children play in the ‘Piratennest’, while another 100 seats have been created below the daycare center. A sustainable and profitable project!
