June 19: Visit the PhoenixWERK

In 2022, the chambers of architects of the German federal states want to inspire people once again with exciting new architecture and objects from interior design, landscape architecture and urban planning on “Architecture Day”. This year, the date in NRW on June 18/19 is one week before the nationwide “Day of Architecture” because the (usual) last weekend in June coincides with the start of the summer vacation in North Rhine-Westphalia.

“We all hope that people in our state will have the opportunity to spend a weekend intensively examining new or upgraded architecture,” says Ernst Uhing, President of the NRW Chamber of Architects.

About the office ensemble

Completed in 2020, the new building and headquarters of SHA will further develop the area in conjunction with the historic immediate surroundings on Phoenix West. The PhoenixWERK completes the successful structural transformation of Phoenixplatz. Old and new reinforce each other, accomplish the transformation from industrial wasteland to new urbanity and at the same time form a reminiscence of the industrial culture of the Ruhr area. The result is an urban mix of work, gastronomy, events and local recreation, which has already been awarded the “Dortmund Hamm Unna 2020 Architecture Prize”.
